Andreessen Horowitz launched a school for 18-year-olds who'd rather skip college. It's called the Horowitz Andreessen Academy. One year in San Francisco, around 50 students, and tuition-free. Admission is weighted on what you've built or shipped instead of grades and essays. No homework or tests, and every student gets $50,000+ in compute credits and a $5,000 travel budget. Sam Altman and Fei-Fei Li are on the instructor list, and Jensen Huang is slated to visit. It's a for-profit company with $42M raised. The two-year version, targeted for 2028, is expected to charge tuition similar to elite private universities. Ben Horowitz, on why a16z built a school: “Somebody has to pioneer how you train a person for this new world.”
